Important Information About Residence Permit & Tourist Visa Options
If you are planning to stay in Turkey for a longer period through property ownership, this can be achieved with a Short-Term Tourist Visa, which is granted for a minimum of 6 months and up to 2 years.
For this application, the value of the property is not taken into account. This means you may apply regardless of the purchase price and obtain a 6-month to 2-year tourist visa, which can also be renewed upon expiry.
One of the key differences between a Residence Permit and a Tourist Visa is as follows:
- By purchasing a property valued at $200,000 or above, you can apply for a 1-year Residence Permit. After 5 continuous years of residing in Turkey with a residence permit, you become eligible to apply for Turkish citizenship.
- If you purchase a property below $200,000 and wish to stay in Turkey long-term, you must apply for the Short-Term Tourist Visa (minimum 6 months, maximum 2 years). This visa can be renewed; however, even after 5 years, it does not provide eligibility for citizenship application.
