ALTINKUM
Arriving into the resort of Altinkum you will see straight away where it gets its name from. Altinkum means golden sands and has several gloriously sandy beaches which gently shelve in the warm Aegean Sea .Located about 70km form Bodrum airport this up and coming resort has everything to offer the holiday maker or resident whilst maintaining its definite Turkish feel.
Altinkum is situated between two International Airports for easy access and surrounded by 55km/34 miles of coastline, 11 Blue Flagged Beaches with English spoken widely. Didim is a lively and popular resort on the Aegean coast with its wonderful golden beaches.
The best airport to use is Bodrum of which the transfer time is roughly an hour and a half. This mainly operates for international flights during summer only, so in winter most expats revert to using Izmir airport that is a 2-hour transfer. Other than that, Dalaman airport in the Mugla region is a three and half hour transfer.
The climate is fabulous between April to October, there is a growing ex-patriot community resident year round, and the government are supporting tourism in the area by ongoing improvements to local infrastructure like providing pedestrian walkways by the beach, new roads, drainage and community buildings.
AKBUK
Away from the busy beach resorts, Didim’s hilltop towns offer a more traditional lifestyle in picturesque surroundings. Could one of these, each a short drive from the sea, take your fancy?
Akbuk is located around 23km from the centre of Didim with a stunning 11km stretch of coastline, offering clean beaches, crystal clear water and dense forest for a tranquil holiday of lifestyle, much more relaxing and peaceful than Altinkum which is the Didim’s peninsula lively holiday resort.
The working fishering town of Akbuk is nestled between a crystal clear and tranquil bay and majestic mountains and pine forests. The resort looks out of the crystal clear aegean, with two small islands, making the view truly spectacular. Its Just a 15 minute drive from well know holiday resort Altinkum, and under 60 minutes from Bodrum Airport.
Akbuk used to be known as just a small fishing port where the fishermen would go to catch delicious Aegean Sea bass. Today, However, Akbuk is rapidly growing into an elite tourist resort with its holiday complexes as well as summer houses, villas, harbour, and five star hotels.
Akbuk has a good range of shops and markets selling food, produce, tools and hardware. There are doctors, dentists, schools and a bus station with regular services going to all of the neighbouring towns including Altinkum, Soke, Kusadasi and Bodrum. The local market on a Friday is a magnet for locals and tourists a like.
GRENHILL
Greenhill is a relaxing and peacefull rural area, 5 mins drive to akbuk beach and 15 mins drive to Altinkum. It worth come and view the villa as it has lovely views of mountains. Yesiltepe is popular resort only with the villas around. As all the plots has minimum size of 700sqm which gives you so much garden , pool and sunbahting area. Akbuk and Altinkum has lovely sandy beaches with blue flag which means clean and well kept beaches.
Yesiltepe is a stunning scenic area of Didim, translating as ‘Green Hill’ nestled in the mountains close to the Bafa Lake National Park which used to be part of the Aegean Sea and is one of the biggest lakes in western Anatolia, surrounded by nature and history with ancient carvings in the rocks, ancient ruins and churches, an absolutely stunning area unspoilt by mass tourism.
The area has in recent times become popular with some of Didim’s expats, preferring the quiet peaceful life of the area, around 10 minutes by car or Dolmus to Akbuk and 15 minutes to the centre of Didim and Altinkum beaches, considered as one of the peninsula’s more elite areas to live as well as being popular for Didim tourists and daily excursions, though easily accessed by the local Dolmus routes.
Property in Yesiltepe often comes on large private plots as most homes are private villas and prices follow those of the Didim area offering excellent value for money when you compare with other Turkish resort areas, though newer homes are now being provided for the luxury market and are offered with higher price tags.
